East-West University Attends American Urban Campus Meeting of Chancellors and Presidents of 21 Chicago’s Top Colleges and Universities

East-West University is a member of the America’s Urban Campus (AUC) which is a consortium of 21 of Chicago’s universities and colleges, formally established in January, 2016 by agreement of the institutions’ leadership. AUC’s mission is to enhance the image of Chicago as a global destination for higher education and to improve the lives of its citizens by drawing on the collective strengths of its member institutions.

Recently, Dr. M. Wasiullah Khan, Chancellor of East-West University, the representative to AUC and Ms. Barbara Abrajano, East-West’s Director of Development, Board Relations and Community Engagement, the liaison to AUC attended an America’s Urban Campus Meeting on Monday, January 22, 2018. This meeting was convened by AUC for the Chancellors and Presidents from the 21 Chicago’s top colleges and universities. Dr. Michael Amiridis, Chancellor of the University of Illinois at Chicago was the host and master of ceremonies. At this meeting Mayor Rahm Emanuel met with the leadership of higher education and emphasized the important role higher education plays in supporting the Chicago Public Schools students as they plan for college and careers and in providing talent needed by Chicago corporations. Joining the Mayor Emanuel were Dr. Helene Gayle, CEO, The Chicago Community Trust; Dr. Janice Jackson, CEO, Chicago Public Schools; Mr. Juan Salgado, Chancellor, City Colleges of Chicago; and Ms. Andrea Zopp, CEO, World Business Chicago.
