EWU Welcomes New "Freshmen Experience" Professor


East-West is pleased to welcome the latest addition to our staff, Professor Tyara Simpson, who will be teaching Freshmen Seminar (HM100) this summer.


Tyara Simpson is an alumna of East-West University. She graduated with a 4.0 GPA and a BA in English and Communications in 2010. She has been teaching for two years in Chicago Public Schools at the middle school level. She has her Master's Degree in Teaching with a Type 03 certification from National Louis University and another Master's in Education-Instructional Leadership from University of Illinois at Chicago.



She has significant experience working as an English and Social Studies teacher in urban education in the middle school grade levels. Prior to working in Chicago Public Schools, she was an adjunct instructor at East West University and an admission representative with ITT Technical Institute in 2011. Additionally, she leads and inspires youth at her church, Living Word Christian Center in Forest Park, IL. She has a divine passion for education and serving people, especially youth and young adults.



Freshmen Seminar is a four-week course for new students only. It’s designed to prepare for college success. This summer it meets Fridays from 9:00am to 11:45am in W415.
