More than 30 years ago, East-West University was conceived to provide an equal opportunity for higher education for everyone who desires a college education. This commitment to affordable education for all racial, ethnic, and socio-economic groups is part of the University¹s mission and a principle that has sustained the University through its history.
East-West University is a small school that offers personal attention and smaller class sizes. More than 1200 students have earned an East-West degree since our doors opened in 1980. Over the past several years, East-West University has established the highest graduation rate of any majority-minority institution of higher education in the state of Illinois. In fall 2011, Washington Monthly magazine’s annual college guide recognized East-West University as one of the top 10 baccalaureate institutions in the nation in their Social Mobility Index.
Today, the University stands poised to expand its inclusive, future-oriented, globally-focused mission to even more students who hunger for knowledge and opportunity. The University will soon begin construction of a new building that will more than double the size of our campus, provide students with residential facilities for the first time, and provide attractive studying, working, and leisure space for students, faculty and staff.
Institutions of higher education have a duty to prepare their graduates for economic, technological, social, political, and cultural challenges that require greater knowledge and understanding of the world’s many cultures. This is a responsibility that has always been a principal component of the educational experience at East-West University.
We are glad you chose to visit our Web site, and we hope you will continue to support the mission of East-West University.
With warmest regards, I remain
