CHICAGO-- (April 12, 2010) Mr. Thomas Mozina will discuss trends, technology, design strategies and the future of sustainable architecture at East-West University on Wed., April 21 at 7:00 p.m. in the Fourth Floor Auditorium. The lecture, entitled “Sustainability in Context: Architecture,” is presented free as part of the Perspectives lecture series. A reception with light refreshments begins at 6:30 p.m.
Mr. Mozina is an Architect, Associate Principal, and Senior Designer at Perkins+Will with over 20 years of experience. He has served in lead design roles on a variety of diverse building types all over the world, including Aviation Proposals in Seoul and Hong Kong; Corporate office buildings in Chicago, Charlotte, Denver, Washington DC, Manila and Korea; mixed use developments in Beirut, Dubai and Mumbai; Research Laboratories at Ohio State University, University of Southern California and The University of Virginia; and educational projects from K-12 to Higher Ed. in Illinois, Texas, Colorado, Alaska, Minnesota, Singapore and Manila.
His most notable projects include the new 1.3 million square foot Los Angeles U.S. courthouse; a 31-story, 1 million square foot corporate office tower for Bank of America located in Charlotte; The Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum in Chicago; a 30-story mixed use residence in Mumbai; a 1.2 million square foot Coast Guard Headquarters in Washington DC. From 2001 to 2005 he served as the co-director of the firm’s sustainable design initiative where he developed and helped implement the firms SDI strategic plan.
Mr. Mozina earned his BA and MA in architecture at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
