RECYCLING ACTIVIST SPEAKS AT EAST-WEST UNIVERSITY

CHICAGO--  (April 30, 2010)   Radio personality and recycling activist Mike Nowak  will present a lecture on the state of recycling in Chicago at East-West University on Wed., May 19, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in the Fourth Floor Auditorium, 816 S. Michigan Avenue in Chicago.  The lecture, entitled “Loops Closing in the Night,” is presented free as part of the Perspectives lecture series.  A reception with light refreshments begins at 6:30 p.m.

Mike Nowak is host of “The Mike Nowak Show,” Sundays from 8 to 10 a.m. on Chicago’s Progressive Talk, WCPT 820AM and 92.5, 92.7 and 99.9 FM. For a decade before coming to WCPT, he was the host of WGN Radio's “Let's Talk Gardening.” He is also a writer and award-winning columnist for Chicagoland Gardening Magazine.

Mike is an Illinois Master Gardener and Openlands TreeKeeper. In 2002, he co-founded the Midwest Ecological Landscaping Association and served as MELA's president for four years.

He is president of the Chicago Recycling Coalition and on the board of the Lincoln Park Conservancy. He is also part of the Speakers Network for SafeLawns.org, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting natural lawn care and grounds maintenance.
