Craig Dellimore Keynotes 2010 East-West University Graduation
WBBM Radio Political Editor Craig Dellimore will be the commencement speaker at East-West University’s 28th Convocation Ceremony at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 20, 2010 at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance in Chicago’s Millennium Park, 205 E. Randolph Drive. The ceremony will feature approximately 150 graduates, plus nearly 1000 family members, faculty, staff, trustees and guests.
Mr. Dellimore has held the position of Political Editor at WBBM Newsradio 780 since 2001. He joined WBBM in 1983, after several years with the Associated Press Radio Network in Washington, D.C., and held a variety of jobs at the CBS-owned station, including anchor, Managing Editor, Legislative Correspondent, and Suburban Bureau Chief.
Mr. Dellimore has covered several national political conventions for WBBM, and covered the rise of Chicagoan Barack Obama from the State Senate to President of the United States. Yet some of his most memorable stories over the years have been personal stories outside the realm of politics. He covered the tragedy of the 1994 crash of American Eagle Flight 4184 in Roselawn, Indiana and reported on the resilience of farmers and other residents along the Mississippi as they recovered from widespread flooding. And, over the course of nearly two years, he reported on a west suburban woman as she waited for a lung transplant, highlighting the desperate need for organ donations.
Mr. Dellimore grew up in New York City, where he attended Columbia University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology. But following his longtime interest in news and politics, he pursued a different course at the graduate level by earning a Masters Degree from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
