The Computer and Information Science program at East-West University offers a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree program and an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree program

Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in computer and information science

 

  • 32 credit hours in the University’s general education core courses which should include:
    • 12 credit hours in English and Communications higher than EN150, EN154 required
    • 12 credit hours in mathematics higher than MT150, MT158 or MT170 required
    • 4 credit hours in humanities, HM279 required
    • 4 credit hours in behavioral sciences

     

  • 12 credit hours in the cognate or supporting fields which should include:
    • 4 credit hours in business, BS101 required
    • 8 credit hours from either accounting, business, economics, management, finance or marketing.

     

  • 48 credit hours in the major field of concentration
    • a total of at least twelve courses, specified as CI101, CI209, CI214, CI250, one course from CI105 or CI255, one course from CI208 , CI215, or CI216, one course from CI245, CI246, CI248, or CI249 and any five courses higher than CI/MM200.

     

 

Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Computer and Information Science

 

  • 64 credit hours in the University’s general education core courses which should include:
    • 20 credit hours in English and Communications of a level higher than EN150, specified as EN151, EN152, EN166, EN491, and one course from EN154, EN213, or EN214
    • 20 credit hours in Mathematics and Science

     

      • 12 credit hours in Mathematics of a level higher than MT150, specified as MT155, MT156, MT158
      • 4 credit hours from BL222, BL223, or BL232
      • 4 credit hours from  BL101, BL104, BL106, BL130, BL131, BL140, BL190, BL201, BL222, BL223, BL232, BL295, ET101, PH105, or PH110

 

  • 20 credit hours in the Behavioral Sciences and Humanities
    • HM279, PL101, SC101 required
    • 4 credit hours from EN210, EN211, EN212, EN249, HM101, HM102, HM103, HM111, or HM120
    • 4 credit hours from EN210, EN211, EN212, EN249, HM101, HM102, HM103, HM111, HM120, HM210, HM211, HS119, HS122, IS111, IS221, IS222, IS441, PS101, or SC212
  • 4 credit hours in Computer and Information Science, CI101required.


* CI101 can be waived by placement test.

  • At least 40 credit hours in Computer and Information Science courses
    • CI209, CI219, CI300, CI301, CI310, CI320, CI321, CI492/MM490* and one course from CI208, CI215, or CI216, and one course from CI245, CI246, or CI249. (* Multimedia Specialist only)

     

  • At least 16 credit hours in cognate or supporting field courses
    • BS101, MT160, MT201/EN170*, and MT202/MR310* or MT202/MR311*. (* Multimedia Specialist only)

     

  •   At least 32 credit hours from any of the following concentrations: Database Specialist, E-commerce Technology Specialist, Information System Analyst, Multimedia Specialist, Software Engineering Specialist, and Telecommunication Specialist.

 

  • 28 credit hours of electives of which 8 credit hours should be at the 300 or 400 level.
