Name: Antoine Bates
Major: Business Management and Accounting
What do you plan to do with your degree once you finish at East-West? “Well I plan to go right back to school to get my masters, but my main goal is to start up my own non-profit agency dealing with inner city black youth and health disparities.”
If you could impact the world in one way, how would you /what would you do? “I would reach out to those people that most of society turns their back on, and make their lives more livable.”
List other activities/programs you are a part of (at East-West or elsewhere) “I’m in the process of starting a GBLT-friendly fraternity chapter here in Chicago, but I’m involved in many activities dealing with youth in Chicago also.”
Why should other people join the Honors Program? “Because it gives you a sense of pride knowing that not only do your grades bring you satisfaction, but your successes can be honored/celebrated by other individuals who have the same hard work ideals as yourself.”
Name a book that you really like or has influenced you in some way. Explain why. “The Bible, even though I’m not a deeply religious person, I still believe my moral makeup and my pursuits fall in line with the teachings within the Bible. Even though I don’t believe everything that is written, it’s still a good beginning for me.”
List any hobbies/interests: “I have too many to list, but they include performing instrumentally, vocally, and acting. I love outdoor photography. I also love to travel and see new people and things.”
Favorite Quote: “A closed mouth doesn’t get fed.”
