Welcome Message from Director of the Computer and Information Science
Greetings and Welcome to Computer and Information Science at East-West University! As the Program Director of Computer and Information Science, I would like to take this opportunity to share with you some of the highlights of our program and community.
The Computer and Information Science program offers both the Bachelor of Science (BS) and the Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree programs. The study of Computer Science involves implementing well-organized methodologies and learning skills in programming and scripting languages. Additionally, students learn more about such topics as algorithms, databases, networking, security and cryptography, computer architecture, operating systems, web information retrieval, and digital media. With this foundational background, real-life application and further extrapolation of this knowledge include artificial intelligence, developing software techniques, data warehousing and business intelligence development, all of which students become fully equipped to explore. The versatility of skill sets students learn from our program is a testament to the exciting and dynamic nature of the field of Computer Science.
The courses in the program are designed to prepare students with the requisite theoretical, technical and practice knowledge for a professional or technology-related career. To do so, our faculty is dedicated to providing innovative approaches in our teaching and curriculum, involving use of state-of-the art computer labs with up to date software to keep track of the current trends in the IT fields. As such, many of our graduates go on to successfully pursue careers in the field, or higher graduate study in Computer Science.
Both the full-time and adjunct faculty members in our program are dedicated and highly qualified. Their teaching experience and research evdeavors exemplify the level of quality they bring to the classroom and their students. In order to ensure the academic growth of individual students, the class sizes maintain small; on average, there are about 20 students in each class.
I invite you to visit the rest of our website to learn more about our mission, our degree programs, our alumni and current students’ achievements, and our full-time faculty member’s research activities.
I hope that prospective students feel encouraged to join our community of high-achieving academics.
